Kids art classes: creativity from an early age

Author: MAKA Art

Modern children spend a lot of time in front of screens. That is reality, and the virtual world gives a child a lot — but not everything. It does not give the tactile experience that matters for development. Working with real materials by hand is a good complement to screen time.

The science of the benefits of creativity

Vasily Sukhomlinsky wrote: "The mind of a child is at the tips of their fingers." Neuroscience agrees.

  • Fine motor skills: Working with small details (painting with a thin brush, small molds, modeling) stimulates the brain's speech centers.
  • Spatial thinking: When a child sculpts from gypsum, they learn to understand volume and shape.
  • Emotional intelligence: Through color, a child expresses what they cannot say in words.

Our kids' master classes (ages 5–10)

At MAKA Art, we do not teach "how to do it right". We teach not to be afraid to try. There are two kids' formats, and both run for three hours with a break for juice and cookies.

1. Painting for kids: the first real picture

A canvas, water-based acrylic, and an artist nearby. The child mixes colors, tries brush and palette-knife strokes, and takes home their first painting. There are no "wrong" colors — only freedom.

2. Gypsum items: the magic of transformation

Pour a "magic potion" (gypsum) into a mold, wait until it turns into stone, and paint it. Kids feel like real alchemists.

A child's birthday

By the way, a children's party in an art studio is a lifesaver for parents. The children are busy for three hours, they are under the supervision of a master, their eyes are shining. And parents can quietly drink coffee or join the fun. Each guest takes their gift home, so no one leaves offended. Read more in our article about birthdays.

Safety is our priority

It is important for parents to know:

  • Materials are chosen for children: no harsh smells and no epoxy resin
  • Gypsum is a non-toxic material that washes off with water
  • Acrylic paints are water-based and wash off easily
  • The master is always nearby and controls the process
  • Aprons and protective gloves are provided

Age guide: what suits your child?

  • Ages 5–7: Painting or gypsum together with a parent — simple techniques, bright colors, maximum freedom
  • Ages 8–10: the same painting and gypsum, but on their own — kids love the "magic of transformation"
  • From age 6 with an adult: any adult master class, for example clay modeling — the studio closes for your party only, there are no strangers in the room
  • From age 14: adult master classes on their own — teenagers feel "grown-up" and responsible

MAKA Art is an art studio in central Minsk — 61 Novovilenskaya St., unit 337. Directions are on the contacts page; pick a date on the booking page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the presence of parents required?

For children aged 5–7 — yes, the child works together with a parent. For children aged 8 and up — optional: you can stay nearby or wait in the lounge area. Many moms gladly join the process!

What if the child ruins their clothes?

We provide aprons, but recommend clothes you do not mind getting dirty. Water-based acrylic washes off if soaked immediately.

Can I order a kids' master class at home?

Yes, we have an on-site format — a children's party at your venue is arranged individually: message us and we will tell you about the conditions and the minimum order.

Are there discounts for large families?
