You have decided that it's time to add creativity to your life, you open the studio schedule and... get lost. Gypsum? Acrylic? Candles? Everything looks beautiful, but what is right for you? The two most popular questions we hear are: "What is easier?" and "What is prettier?".

Let's set up a fair duel between the two giants of studio creativity: Architectural Gypsum and Fluid Art (Liquid Acrylic).

Round 1: Aesthetics and Style

Gypsum: An Ode to Minimalism

Gypsum means matte finish, velvety touch, and noble heaviness. Gypsum items fit perfectly into Scandinavian interiors, loft, and boho. It's about naturalness.

What you can make: A marble-effect tray, a "Monstera" planter, a jewelry stand.

Fluid Art: Bright Abstraction

Fluid Art is an explosion of color, smooth lines, and unique patterns. It is ideal for creating bright accents that will liven up any neutral space.

What you can make: An interior painting of any size with a unique pattern that you will create with your own hands.

Round 2: Process and Complexity

Gypsum (Level: Easy)

Working with gypsum is like cooking. You mix powder with water and a plasticizer, add dye. The main thing is to have time to pour it into the mold before the mixture thickens (you have about 5-7 minutes).

  • Pros: Washes off with water, safe for children and pregnant women.
  • Cons: You need to work quickly.

Fluid Art (Level: Very Easy)

This is complete freedom of action! You mix paints, adjusting their thickness, and pour them onto the canvas. It is almost impossible to ruin a painting—any result looks abstract and beautiful.

  • Pros: More time for creativity, maximum art therapy effect without the fear of a "blank canvas".
  • Cons: You need time for the painting to dry.

Round 3: The Result (The Most Important!)

Gypsum: Here and now.
This is the main advantage of the gypsum master class. The item hardens in 30-40 minutes. While it dries, we drink tea, chat, and then take the finished thing out of the mold. You go home with the result.

Fluid Art: The ability to wait.
Liquid acrylic takes longer to dry. After the master class, the work remains in the studio. You pick it up the next day or later. But the result is a massive painting in your favorite color.

MAKA Art's Verdict

Choose GYPSUM if:

  • You want a quick result ("came, made, picked up").
  • You like tactility and matte textures.
  • You are coming with children or are pregnant.
  • You want to create a practical item.
  • You need a gift that can be handed over immediately.

Choose FLUID ART if:

  • You just want to relax and surrender to color.
  • You need a large and bright abstract detail in your interior.
  • You are ready to wait for your painting to dry.
  • You are looking for the maximum art therapy effect.

Masters' Opinion: What do Beginners Choose?

According to our statistics, 60% of beginners choose gypsum for their first visit. The reason is simple—the result is immediately in their hands. But 80% of them return to try Fluid Art because they saw how beautifully it turned out at the neighboring table.

The ideal strategy for a beginner: start with gypsum to see if you like the studio atmosphere. And then try Fluid Art for contrast. This way you will find "your" format.

And what about candles and painting?

We only compared two directions, but we have other options as well:

  • Candle making—great for those who want to create a scented gift.
  • Canvas painting—for those who have dreamed of painting their first picture.
  • Kids' gypsum—for young creators from 7 years old.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I combine gypsum and Fluid Art in one visit?

Technically yes, but we recommend choosing one direction to fully immerse yourself in the process. Each master class lasts 2-2.5 hours, and this is the optimal time for a quality result.

What is safer for allergy sufferers?

Gypsum is a hypoallergenic material, safe for most people. Acrylic paints for Fluid Art are also safe but have a weak odor. If you have allergies, warn us in advance.

Which master class is better for a date?

Both are great! Gypsum is more intimate and calm. Fluid Art is more emotional and "wow". For a romantic evening, we recommend an art date with painting—this is a classic format for couples.

Are there discounts for returning customers?

We have a loyalty system. Regular guests receive special offers. Subscribe to our Instagram so as not to miss promotions.

Still in doubt? Try both options! Many of our guests start with gypsum, fall in love with the process of creation, and then come to Fluid Art. Sign up for the nearest convenient master class.
